R Dean Taylor rocks my boat

Been listening to R Dean Taylor over the weekend and the tunes made me all happy and bought back great memories of the early days with my man. There are only a few of us amongst our rather small group of friends who appreciate the wonders of R Dean, all stemming back to our time as mod and northern soul lovers many moons ago. The man, to me anyway, is greater than Scott Walker although many dudes and dudettes do compare the two with Walker usually walking (no pun intended) away with the title of the man and R Dean being likened to a poor copy. They both sing about relationships breaking up and where Walker leaves me wanting to kill myself, Taylor sort of makes me want to celebrate the lost loves. This is making sense while I type but it is in my head. R Dean Taylor a very white man with a very black voice and it's great, he hasn't done anything since the early 70s and is a producer somewhere (that bit of info I heard back in 1997, very out of date). Here's one thing though, if he was trying to get a record deal now he probably wouldn't because back in the "60's everyone sang about shagging 14 year olds yet none of the industry bosses ever seemed to mind or notice, look at Donovan as an example, he loves them young uns. This has turned into a ramble, all I wanted to say was go check out R Dean Taylor, listen to Ghost in my House or Gotta See Jane and I hope it brings a smile to your face.

The weather is messing with my body. It's only just gone 1.15 and I feel as if I have been exposed to several seasons already. My head is hurting, I want to crawl into my handbag and sleep.
Having purchased "Out West" by the wonderful Gomez (a while back, just been a bit too lazy to appreciate it), who in my opimion are probably one of Britain's most underrated bands and all I can say is go out and buy it. Without sounding like a complete sycophant it really is a breath of fresh considering the state of the top 40 these days. Ok so it's a live album and other than covers of Nick Drake's "Black Eyed Dog" and Tom Waits "Going out West" there are no new tracks but it's just fantastic. The combination of the different vocals from the genious's (spelling is incorrect) who are Tom, Ben and Ian (obviously not forgetting the talents of Olly and Sol, apologies if I have missed anyone) is enough to keep the musical buds entertained. The live DVD is excellant, although why is it that Americans never seem to enjoy gigs, they just seem to stand there, smile and clap every now and then. Strange.
I'm starting to feel the need for food and must eat.
